Everyone wants a piece of the crypto pie. As digital assets and blockchain technology continue on their blazing run, many major corporations have been looking to join the fray – now Instagram among them. It seems The social media giant is thinking of launching an NFT marketplace.
In a recent interview, the man at the helm of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, gave some insight into the company’s possible projects for the near future. These include a subscription model and, most interestingly, the company is also considering the possibility of diving head first into the booming Non-Fungible Tokens market.
Though no mention was made regarding the minting of NFTs on the social media platform, creators would be able to sell them directly on Instagram.
“For NFT artists, Instagram is often the platform of choice to showcase their work. I love the idea of us doing more in that space, I love the idea of us doing more in that space.” Mosseri said.
News of Instagram’s intentions came to light when a series of Tweets from artist, Sean Williams, revealed that the company had approached him regarding the matter. However, the artist displayed a great deal of displeasure and mistrust over the request.
