A subtle risk in Bitcoin block fees is drawing fresh attention: new research finds that when one block carries far more fees than the block after it, the network sees more competing “block races” and slower next-block arrivals. It sounds like a niche mechanics problem, but it touches the heart of how Bitcoin stays secure as it shifts from block subsidies toward a fee-driven model.
